Update: June 3, 2021 - INCREASING BENEFITS FOR SENIORS Update: OLD AGE SECURITY BENEFIT- During the pandemic. many seniors have faced economic challenges as they took on extra costs to stay home. That is why the Federal government will be providing an additional one-time payment of $500 in August 2021 to Old Age Security (OAS) pensioners who will be 75 or older as of June 2022.

Update: SAFE LONG TERM CARE FUND - The covid-19 pandemic has been hard for seniors who live in long-term care. The Federal government is providing more than $3 billion to support provinces and territories in ensuring standards for long-term care. On top of this, $1 billion investment through the Safe Long-Term Care Fund to support seniors, and those who help them, are well protected and well supported through the pandemic and for years to come. ELDERLY PROGRAMS

a) GETTING HEALTHY TOGETHER from August 2020 to January 31, 2021 Virtual BY Zoom. This program funded by the NEW HORIZONS FOR SENIORS PROGRAM -GOVERNMENT OF CANADA, SERVICE CANADA.

Topic: Warm Up/Exercises, Mental Health Awareness, Celebrate Social Inclusion, Medical Check Up Assistance, Address Isolation & Prevent Senior Abuse and Fraud and other related topic to benefit the seniors.

b) SENIORS’ VIRTUAL CAFE from March 1, 2021 to January 31, 2022 Virtual by ZOOM every Saturday from 10 am to 12 noon. This program funded by the NEW HORIZONS FOR SENIORS PROGRAM-GOVERNMENT OF CANADA-SERVICE CANADA

Topic: Fitness/Warm Up Exercises, Gardening for Seniors, Arts and Crafts, Heritage Celebration, Trivia games, Birthday/Wedding Celebrations and Information session topic for seniors welfare.

c) -It provides day out, feeding and counseling programs for most senior and elderly staying in the elderly houses and in the community. (Spring to Summer of each year)

HOLIDAY ARTS & CRAFTS - Starting September to December 2021 at Seniors’ Virtual Cafe, seniors will create holiday decors, arts & crafts for holiday season. They will turn the basket, pine cone, blankets, garland, parol & other into a marvelous/beautiful holiday season decorations. Some will be for fundraise or gift to loved one. Let’s support our seniors, help them create the best holiday decor this season.

Seniors’ Virtual Cafe - Seniors Project for the months of: plus Monthly birthday Celebration

May 1 until the month of August/21 - Vegetables/Herbs Gardening and the information about the Benefits of Gardening to Seniors. Mothers’ Day celebration.

June 1 to 30 - Arts and Crafts—Glass bottle craft, customs pillow making, decorative basket: Fathers’ day Celebration.

July 1 to 31 — Canada Day celebration, Summer activities

August - Gardening and Crops Harvesting

September to December - Seniors Holiday Arts & Crafts, Holiday Cooking & Info about Giving.

VOLUNTEERISM IN iCFI

Make a difference during your vacant/spare time. There is a rise in need of volunteers in iCFI.

People making a difference while on their spare time is very uplifting, give you joy while helping others and give you experience.

iCFI are now among those not-for-profit charitable organization in Ontario offering volunteer programs. You can help in different programs offered by iCFI, we partnered also with other organization like Men Feed the Hungry, Women’s Shelter helping in the soup kitchen, Family and Elders program. In Literacy programs, if you are certified English teacher and computer genius, you may volunteer in ESL & Computer class on weekends from 1 pm to 3 pm.

iCFI has a special summer field trip in Ontario & educational/historical USA tour for family, elders, youth and volunteers.

You can also volunteer in some of the most challenged programs of iCFI like in Immigrant & Community Services, Development Marketing Sales & Planning, Finance, Employment, Fundraising, Human Resources/Membership. iCFI also in need of weekday (Monday to Friday) volunteer in Administration Office as Office Assistant/File Clerk & Accountant. 9 SECONDARY AND HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS (YOUTH) can volunteer at iCFI required by the Secondary/High School Institution in Ontario for up to 40 hours. Certificate of volunteering will be given upon request.
DUTIES: Help in Office- filing & sorting: Volunteer in Feeding Program for the Homeless; Volunteer in Soup Kitchen for the battered women at Sistering Home; Volunteer in the Community events & Community Clean up; Volunteer in Senior Program like helping on gadget and other related senior activity; Volunteer in Children basketball tournament on summertime and so much more.
