Update: June 3, 2021 - INCREASING BENEFITS FOR SENIORS Update: OLD AGE SECURITY BENEFIT- During the pandemic. many seniors have faced economic challenges as they took on extra costs to stay home. That is why the Federal government will be providing an additional one-time payment of $500 in August 2021 to Old Age Security (OAS) pensioners who will be 75 or older as of June 2022.

Update: SAFE LONG TERM CARE FUND - The covid-19 pandemic has been hard for seniors who live in long-term care. The Federal government is providing more than $3 billion to support provinces and territories in ensuring standards for long-term care. On top of this, $1 billion investment through the Safe Long-Term Care Fund to support seniors, and those who help them, are well protected and well supported through the pandemic and for years to come. ELDERLY PROGRAMS

a) GETTING HEALTHY TOGETHER from August 2020 to January 31, 2021 Virtual BY Zoom. This program funded by the NEW HORIZONS FOR SENIORS PROGRAM -GOVERNMENT OF CANADA, SERVICE CANADA.

Topic: Warm Up/Exercises, Mental Health Awareness, Celebrate Social Inclusion, Medical Check Up Assistance, Address Isolation & Prevent Senior Abuse and Fraud and other related topic to benefit the seniors.

b) SENIORS’ VIRTUAL CAFE from March 1, 2021 to January 31, 2022 Virtual by ZOOM every Saturday from 10 am to 12 noon. This program funded by the NEW HORIZONS FOR SENIORS PROGRAM-GOVERNMENT OF CANADA-SERVICE CANADA

Topic: Fitness/Warm Up Exercises, Gardening for Seniors, Arts and Crafts, Heritage Celebration, Trivia games, Birthday/Wedding Celebrations and Information session topic for seniors welfare.

c) -It provides day out, feeding and counseling programs for most senior and elderly staying in the elderly houses and in the community. (Spring to Summer of each year)

c) SENIORS IN ACTION WHERE LIFE MATTERS FROM FEB 1, 2022 TO MARCH 1, 2023 continuation of the first programs for seniors virtually by Zoom every Saturday from 10:30am to 12pm. And by in person outdoor activities on Summertime.

d) SENIORS & YOUTH CONNECT & SERVE TOGETHER from March 1, 2023 to November 1, 2024 continuation of the 3rd program. Youth assist the seniors as needed.

e) SENIORS LIVE LIFE TO THE FULLEST from November 1, 2024 to present - extension of program d.

HOLIDAY ARTS & CRAFTS - Starting September to December 2021 at Seniors’ Virtual Cafe, seniors will create holiday decors, arts & crafts for holiday season. They will turn the basket, pine cone, blankets, garland, parol & other into a marvelous/beautiful holiday season decorations. Some will be for fundraise or gift to loved one. Let’s support our seniors, help them create the best holiday decor this season.
